Fungus on hydrangeas

Asked October 23, 2018, 1:13 PM EDT

I have several endless summer hydrangeas and they have black spot. I was told to remove the affected leaves and clean up around them. All the leaves are affected, so is it ok to remove every leaf? It is October now. Thank you.

Attached are two articles which give a further explanation of the process for cleaning up leaf spot. Both recommend removing the leaves. Fall pruning instead of spring pruning is also recommended, so the leaves could be removed easily. Remove the debris and do not compost the material. Next spring prevention will be key (see second article for methods).
