Yellowing evergreens

Asked October 20, 2018, 5:53 PM EDT

A few of our evergreens are yellowing. I do not remember seeing this before. Is this natural or am I overwatering? I did water a little more heavily this summer with our warmer drier year.

Hi there,

This looks like normal Fall needle drop to me. Even though these trees are considered "evergreens" they do start dropping older interior needles once they reach a certain age... if you look around you will see pine needles and other needles all over the place!

So this is nothing to worry about. Make sure when you water these trees that water infrequently (every week at the most) and water deeply to encourage deep rooting and to prevent suffocating the roots.
