Cutting back nandina

Asked October 19, 2018, 2:35 PM EDT

When is the best time to cut back nandina? Can it be cut back extremely? How many inches does it usually grow in one year? It is currently hiding my house number; hence the questions! Thanks so much,

Nandina - Best time to prune is early spring. It is best to thin out old stems every year near the base or head back old canes at varying lengths to produce a dense plant.
