birds or animals eat swamp milkweed seeds?

Asked October 17, 2018, 11:14 AM EDT

I have more milkweed seed pods than I need to have germinate. If any birds or animals eat them, I’ll leave them standing for winter, as we do with sunflowers. Any in the Orono Mn area?

No, most animals (vertebrate animals, there are lots of insects that love milkweed) aren't interested in milkweed because it's toxic to them. If you have more that you need, you can just compost what you don't need or share with neighbors or friends.
