What kind of snake is this ? Is it venomous ?

Thank you for your question. The snake in your photograph is an adult brown snake, scientific name Storeria dekayi. It is non-venomous.

Brown snakes are found throughout the eastern U. S.. They are found in a variety of habitats, including urban settings. They live under leaf litter, pine straw or mulch.

They feed primarily on earthworms and slugs, but also eat snails, insects and spiders.
