Beech tree disease

We live in Middletown DE. Our beech tree leaves are turning brown & lacy. Is there a disease the beech trees get? Should we be concerned?

Beech trees do have a few plant diseases they are susceptible to, mostly those caused by fungi. What you describe actually sounds more like some insect damage. However, this year, due to fluctuating environmental conditions, we have seen a lot of stress, due to temperature, wind, and high rainfall and humidity. It is October, and most deciduous trees will be turning and leaves will be dropping. I think that whatever the cause, your beech tree will leaf out normally next year. However, if there is branch dieback in the tree, you may want to call a tree service to come and prune the tree in the early spring.
