Acer palmatum

Asked October 4, 2018, 5:37 AM EDT

Hi I have 3 acer plants medium size ones they get morning and early afternoon sun but no cover over them so on rainy day or in winter should i move somewhere cover to protect them from rain because i thing acer roots don’t like too much wet soil or its okay to leave them under light or/and heavy wintery showers. Thank you in advance

Acer palmatum, Japanese Maple, is hardy to our area, and needs watering weekly until the ground freezes, Good drainage is also important, If yours are in containers there may be a problem with freeze damage. Best to plant them into the ground once the leaves fall, while they are in dormancy.
