Ash Beetle problems

Asked September 26, 2018, 11:04 AM EDT

I live on 5 acres and have a Emerald beetle problem. They have destroyed several of my ash trees. How do I report it and can I get help from the county to get rid of the problem. My neighbors also have the same problem. We live on a reserved community in Accokeek.

Prince George's County Maryland emerald ash borer invasives pest insects and mites

There is no assistance for removal of ash trees. The emerald ash borer is in Maryland and is a problem. Since EAB is all over the state there are no quarantines anymore and does not need to be reported in your county.
Do not haul firewood out of the state. Dead trees become hazardous and ash trees become brittle when they die. In some instances cranes may be needed for removal.
Begin by looking at our emerald ash borer page for more information and removal. http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/invasives/emerald-ash-borer
