Yummy chestnut or toxic?
I grew up with pecan tress and loved gathering the nuts in the fall and making them into seasonal gifts for people. In the last few years, I have noticed this chestnut tree and always wondered if it is an edible variety. I have assumed it is because the squirrels and other animals definitely take most of them. Any info about the tree/fruit is appreciated! Thank you

This is an edible sweet chestnut variety. The shell husk and the leaf arrangement are the key. Here is a publication that will give you more information. Enjoy!
