How to keep a Rose of Sharon, approximately 3-4 months old, through the winter

Asked September 21, 2018, 5:48 PM EDT

I planted 2 Rose of Sharon cuttings this summer and they have grown well. They are both in pots and have enjoyed all the sunshine these last months. However, should they be brought in out of the cold for winter since they are so young?

the link above, from CSU, describes how to care for rose of Sharon in Colorado; it does not mention what to do if the plant is in a pot. However, Rose of Sharon do very well planted in the ground and don't need special winter care. I think if it is in a pot, it would be good to bring the pot indoors since the roots would be more likely to be harmed by extreme winter temperatures in pots.
