Pine tree

White sap like substance weeping from my big pine tree - not many pine cones and lots of bare limbs - tree looks sick! It's about 40 years old! Wondering if I should have it cut down or try and save! Thank you!

My guess would be white flux or alcoholic flux. If it is that, the exudate should smell yeasty. It is an indicator of stress, possibly heat or wounding. It is to be differentiated from slime flux, which is related to bacterial wetwood. Read here:
