Scotch Pines and Beetles

Asked September 14, 2018, 9:29 PM EDT

I have around 40 scotch pines that are about 10 years old, The past couple of years I have had Beetle and Pine Bore infestation. I have lost 6 or 7 trees so far, I have decided to fight back so I bought some OnyxPro Bifenthrin is the active ingredient. I sprayed my trees today. Everything I read about them says to spray in the fall of the year and early spring when they are in flight I need to know what months are best times to sray. in spring and fall Thanks Len

Len, call me at the office @ 348-9204. Typically on the pine in our area, the borers that you see are secondary to what actually is killing the tree. While spraying them may help, we really need to look at the overall health of the planting to make sure your efforts are the best.
