Mallard Duck Development

Asked September 14, 2018, 7:57 PM EDT

This summer we had the pleasure of watching a mother mallard raise her ducklings in our pond. All the ducklings have grown to full size, and a couple weeks ago were flying,(except one) I have noticed that this one duckling lives alone now that the others have left. On observation watching the duckling raise up and flap its wings, the wings look too small. I would like to know if slow development occurs at times or if this duckling is possibly deformed. If you can shed any light on this I would surely appreciate it.
Thanks, Jack
