I grew many beets this year. How the best way to safe them for winter time? May I keep them in the garden bed?

Beets can withstand some freezing temperatures, so can be left in the garden unless we have a really cold spell. Prolonged rain, however, saturates the soil, encourages slugs, and leaf disease. You can help protect beets with protection from incessant rain by covering them with a cloche, cold frame or row cover. A hoop house of plastic over a support of plastic tubes would be very helpful.
