Our snake expert identified the snake as a Northern copperhead, a venomous snake. Take a look at our website and publication HG 64 for ways to discourage snakes from coming close to a house or building. mh

We gave your location to our expert. He said that copperheads usually are not found in such developed areas. He thinks it was washed downstream from all the rain from a more rural location. Hope this helps.
