Cut back boxwoods

I want to cut back my boxwoods (evergreens). When is the best time to do this the fall or the spring. Thanks

The best time to prune is when the plants are dormant. The most appropriate pruning method for English boxwoods is thinning. Thinning allows the center of the plant to receive adequate sunlight and air circulation. The best time to thin boxwoods is December through February.
