I am looking to build a pond or dig a well to irrigate 4 acres of vegetable crops in Jackson county OH. The exact address is 354 Umblebee rd, Beaver OH. I am gathering info to see if a well would yield enough water or if a pond would be better. I've looked through a few well logs and got mixed data. Is there any other information available to know if there are good aquifers below my property? If I go the Pond route, roughly, how big of a pond and how much watershed do I need?

Groundwater maps for Ohio Counties are available from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources at http://water.ohiodnr.gov/maps/groundwater-resources-maps

For a pond in Ohio, you need 4.5 acres of drainage area to collect 1 acre-foot of water. One acre-foot is 325,900 gallons of water. In Ohio a pond should be about 6 to 7 feet deep.
