Plants are unlucky enough to have pests all year every year, in the form of insects and diseases. With annual plants you have the opportunity to move every year or take a break for a year to stay one step ahead of pests that build up. Fruit tree growers always have higher pest pressure because they know that their host plants never move.

Other advantages include nutrient scavenging the root zone by rotating between deep rooted and shallow rooted crops.
