Black apple rot

Asked September 5, 2018, 12:49 PM EDT

Is there a chemical spray to aid in killing the fungus of black end rot on apples that I can spray this fall. I will destroy all leaves and fruit that has the fungus as I researched as this was one way to help for next year

No, there is no fall clean up spray to stop black rot. Control is by fungicides during the growing season. Cleaning up all the dead wood in the tree helps reduce the disease pressure. pruning to open up the tree and reduce the drying time in the interior of the tree helps too.
