Tree Infestation in Takoma Park

Asked September 2, 2018, 9:11 AM EDT

We live along Wildwood Drive in the New Hampshire Gardens neighborhood, where there are web bags full of caterpillars infesting the trees. They seem to be very hungry and spread quickly. What, if anything, should we do to protect our ornamental trees? Thank you for your help.

Montgomery County Maryland trees and shrubs pest control fall webworm

This is fall webworm. They are around every year but some years they are more noticeable than others. This is not a serious pest and in most cases, control is not necessary. Please see the following information, http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/fall-webworm-trees
