What grows here?

This is a shrub that comes back every year, near the stream and along the road. It is in bloom now. Goes away in winter. It has been trimmed back severely, but still comes back. It is over 6 ft, tall.

This is Japanese Knotweed. Originally introduced as an ornamental plant, it has become majorly invasive, (especially in riparian areas) and difficult to control as it spreads quickly to form dense thickets, pushing out native species.
