Asked August 25, 2018, 12:49 AM EDT

Strained my preserved grape juice from 2017 today and it ad crystal hard growths in the sediment , what is this? I grow my own grapes which I inherited from the previous owner, they are green and purple concord grapes, I hope to attach a photo.

Those crystals are a natural occurring tartrate crystals. They are very common in grape juice and also end up in wine. They are harmless so just strain them out and enjoy your juice.

To prevent them from occurring it is recommended that you strain the juice and let it set for 24 hours in the refrigerator and only can the clear juice and not can the sediment that might form on the bottom of the container.

They are nothing to worry about and you did nothing wrong, just strain and enjoy the juice.
