Apple tree

Asked August 24, 2018, 7:11 PM EDT

We moved to a property that has an apple tree that has been neglected. It has produced some fruit this year, but most of it was inedible. What can I do to help maintain and clean up this tree? I'm a newbie at this, but willing to learn. Thanks.

Hi. There are a few things you can do. Pruning in late winter and fertilizer may help. Just don’t go overboard! You shouldn’t remove too much through pruning at one time or it may stress the tree. If you would like to email me a picture of the tree my email address is amanda.sears@uky.edu I have some handouts that may be helpful. Or call me at 859-623-4072.
