Found this in my driveway. Any idea what it is? About the size if a blueberry. Has a "harder" outside shell(almost like a popcorn kernel, still playable), a soft bottom and what looks like a little head popping out.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. No one knew what you had so I sent a message to one of the U's entomologists. Here is what he said.

That is weird one! This is a kind of slug caterpillar known as a skiff moth, https://bugguide.net/node/view/388. This entire family of moths have odd looking caterpillars.

Thanks!
