Looking for organic sauve to treat elmseed bugs coming from elm trees
Washington County Oregon
Oh, how I wish it was that easy to manage elm seed bugs.
The small insects arrived only a few years ago in the northwest and, now, are well established nuisance pests which congregate on the exterior of structures and, worse yet, come indoors whenever outdoor temperatures are too high for them.
Effective techniques include caulking and sealing any obvious entries; removing & discarding fallen elm seeds as soon as possible; and using a wet-dry shop vac to get rid of the critters.
An overview of the life cycle, along with management suggestions, can be found in "Elm Seed Bugs" (https://digitalcommons.usu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=2788&context=extension_curall) and in "Managing Elm Seed Bugs around Your Home" (http://www.cals.uidaho.edu/edcomm/pdf/CIS/CIS1223.pdf).
