Too late to plant?

Asked August 18, 2018, 9:52 AM EDT

I impulsively bought a bag of Blazing Star bulbs this spring, but forgot about them until now. Is it too late in the summer to plant them now in late August? If so, is there a way I can winter them inside my home? I hate to just throw them away, but I am not sure what my best option is this late in the year.

You could try planting them in late fall. If you plant them now, they may use up all the bulb nutrients and not have time to replace them before winter. You could also keep them in cool storage until early spring, although they may rot if moisture get to them. See the website for more information. https://wimastergardener.org/article/liatris/
