Japanese Beetles

Asked August 17, 2018, 7:59 PM EDT

Am being over run with Japanese Beetles eating my beautiful flowers.
Used spray recommended by Gilroy Hdwe which harmed plants. Is there a natural product that will tackle these pests?
I'm really worried about (2) 26 yr old Japanese Ewe's too.

The safest way to manage Japanese beetles is to hand pick them and drop them into a container, such as an empty coffee can, with water and dish soap.

For more options for Japanese beetle management, please refer to this fact sheet, https://extension.umn.edu/yard-and-garden-insects/japanese-beetles Scroll down to the area that discusses pesticides that are labelled for this insect pest.

Using the systemic insecticides mentioned may also harm bees who are foraging on your flowers. So, this option wouldn't be recommended for pollinator friendly flowers.

When using any type of pesticide, it is important to read and follow directions on the label.
