It is very possible that your client has grubs in her yard of one kind or another. Skunks ir crows may well be looking for them just under the surface of the lawn. A sure way to check is to take a shovel of soil for approximately a foot around one or some the holes and again about I to 2 inches deep. Search through the grass roots and crowns of the grass plants for the creamy looking grubs. If you have a presence if 8 to 10 grubs per sq foot then you can do as researchers reporting on this problem suggest that a granular substance containing Carbaryl of Trichlorfon be sprinkled around the yard containing the holes and watered in real good. Treatment now and again next April or May will help control the grub population and slow down the invasion of the hole makers as well. Thank you for using the Ask an Expert System.
