Bird mites living on me

Asked August 11, 2018, 7:20 PM EDT

Help! How do I get rid of them?? Nothing works, trying everything, ir is exhausting. Removed the nests that were under the deck against the house but they want to live on me. :( How can I get rid of them? Is there a natural predator I could use? Cedar oil works but at $100/gal and there is no residual action, it must contact them. Apparently this is happening to a lot of folks...can I send a specimen somewhere for analysis?

Bird mites preferred hosts do not include humans. They become pests in homes from infested nests. Perhaps there is another nest that you have overlooked. Please see the page about bird mites on our website. There is an excellent link to more information at the bottom of the page.
We do not accept insect samples.
