Disease? 5 plantings affected

Asked August 11, 2018, 12:30 PM EDT

Hello, I have a pressing concern that something has infected or affected 4 trees and 1 large bush on our property. We noticed some leaf drop last week and now significant leaf drop. The leaves look splotchy and spotted. The splotching of some maple leaves begins at the tip and travels the main stem. This has affected 1 15 y/o maple, 2 7 y/o maples, 1 4y/o crepe myrtle and 1 7 y/o bush (not sure what it is). I have 11 pictures to upload but can only do 3 at a time. Will send In subsequent mailings.

Your maples have maple anthracnose, a fungal disease that occurs when we have especially wet cool springs. Here is what you need to know: http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/shade-tree-anthracnose-trees
