Worms in my pears

Asked August 9, 2018, 9:32 PM EDT

My pears seem wormy. What could be the cause of this and is there a way for me to treat this problem? Thanks, Stefanie Grundahl

It is most likely codling moths. You can bag them the same as apples if it is done early. Also, spraying insecticides are the method of control. Always pick up any fruit that has fallen to the ground and dispose of it promptly. There may be larvae inside the fruit.
