Removal or sale of a very large fir tree from our property

Asked August 7, 2018, 6:52 PM EDT

Hello, My son just bought a home off of Skyline Blvd, and had a very large fir tree felled. He would like to get it removed before their fencing goes up. Who would you advise us to contact? Thank you, you guys are always extremely helpful. Rosemary Zouch

A few more specifics could help you find the right person or service to remove the large Douglas-fir. Are you wanting to sell the wood, see it utilized - or just have it removed as quickly as possible? What is the size (diameter, length) and quality (large branch knots vs clear clean surface and width of growth rings or rings per inch). And what is the access for trucks and loading equipment?

In general, it can be hard to find someone interested in buying a few large logs of low quality. But if the pieces have higher quality wood that can be cut into lumber, you might be able to find someone who actually wants the wood. Otherwise, you will just be paying someone to load, hauld and dispose of the big pieces.

I cannot recommend any one service provider. Sometimes the best way to find a good service provider is talking with friends and neighbors who have had similar work done. References and referrals are always good to have.
