Hi! I have been told by a neighbor that when I am out watering my lawn, it is a good idea to turn the hose on the trunk and limbs of my large Maple Tree and give it "a good bath". I have never heard that before. What are the pros and cons of this practice? Thanks again for your help! -- Gary Feierer

Supplemental water during dry spells will probably benefit the tree, but we don't know of any reason to "give the tree a bath."

When trees are infested by aphids or other sucking insects, a forceful water spray from a hose is sometimes used to remove them.
