Do yellowjackets share a nest/hive?

Asked August 4, 2018, 2:24 PM EDT

We have an active yellowjacket nest/hive behind the siding by our front door. If we remove the individuals in the nest/hive, will other yellowjackets from other nests/hive in the yard begin using this location by our front door? Our goal is to get the yellowjackets to move somewhere else in the yard, and away from the front door of our home. Thanks you

You may want to contact several pest control companies for removal. If the nest is in a wall void, a professional pest control company should be consulted. You do not want them to overwinter indoors and cause damage.
Here is our website on yellowjackets http://extension.umd.edu/hgic/yellowjackets

Once the yellowjackets are removed, other yellowjackets will not reuse the nest.
