Historic horse colors
What historic colors did lippizaans come in?
Essex County Massachusetts
"As late as two hundred years ago, black, browns, chestnuts, duns, piebalds, and skewbalds were found in the adult herd" http://www.lipizzan.org/aboutlipizzans.html
This is logical since the original Lippizaans were derived from Spanish horses and Arabians.
Today, the dominant color is gray with the rare black or bay.
Since gray, black and bay are all dominant coat colors, I suppose there could be a sorrel gene hidden somewhere but it is unlikely as these horses have been line bred for centuries.
