Squash/ zuchinni / watermellon...failure to thrive

My squash and zuchinni in different gardens will produce the flower with small fruit but flower wont open to get pollinated.my watermelon grew to about a large grapefruit size and stopped growing..HELP!

This may be a stress issue (too much/too little water, not enough sun, too hot, etc.). You might also look at the base of the stems for tiny holes from stem borers. You can open the flowers and pollinate by hand if one set (male) is ready before the other (female). However, if the ground is hot, it may simply be too warm for the plants to set and maintain flower and fruit. Tomatoes do this, too.
