The squirrels have eaten every tomato in the neighborhood. I tried a net to no avail. What can we do next year? They are too smart to trap!

There are no easy answers for controlling wildlife in an edible garden. Pick the fruit at the blush stage and let the tomatoes ripen on your countertop. Try covering the plants with a shade cloth temporarily to discourage them. You can sprinkle the tomatoes with ground limestone and the critter may avoid them. Provide water nearby and the critter might go for the water and leave your tomatoes alone.
