gophers

What is the most effective way to get rid of gophers. They are creating havoc on my wifes vegetables, lilies and most of other flower bulbs.

Hello,
thank you for your question.
Gophers and voles are a big problem in Colorado gardens. They are also a tough rodent to get rid off.
Please review the publication below. It will tell you what you need to know about gophers in our gardens and how to get rid of them.
Having them in your vegetable garden will make it a bit tougher since you wont be able to use chemicals.
Do you have a cat or a neighbor with a cat? They usually can help to keep the population down as well.

I agree with all of the information you have been given. I too have a gopher problem. We have pets and so do not use any chemicals. Rather, my husband traps the gophers. As a Master Gardener we do not endorse products. However, my husband has a good luck using Black Hole Traps. Some digging is required to put them in- place, but results have been good. So are this year, 22 gophers have been trapped. I am happy to report that I think the gopher population is beginning to decline, fewer mounds this year than last.
