Dogwood pest

Asked July 27, 2018, 10:07 AM EDT

Will Seven ((dust or granular) kill these pests? We’ve had a solid week of rain and they have nearly 100% defoliated several shrubs.

From the damage and the pics it looks like dogwood sawfly. Here's a link:https://www.whatsthatbug.com/2008/08/09/dogwood-sawfly-larvae-2/

But if you can bring them in to your extension office in a vial of rubbing alcohol they can identify it for you more accurately:

Sevin will work on exposed sawflies however it is very harmful to honey and other bees so be careful. Your extension office will have other recommendations like Spinosad, but Bt will not work.

Thanks so much!
