Honeysuckle bush trimming

Asked July 25, 2018, 5:28 PM EDT

I would like to trim down several Honeysuckle bushes that are 11 years old. Is it ok to do it now and will they regrow next spring or still this season? Thank you

Your honeysuckles would probably survive if you pruned them now, but they should be pruned in early spring. Pruning now stimulates new growth, not something you want to do toward the end of summer. Why not wait?

Honeysuckles respond well to rejuvenation pruning: prune 1/3 (the oldest wood) each spring for the next three years.
