Peking Lilac Trees

Asked July 24, 2018, 4:11 PM EDT

My Peking lilacs were 2-3 “ when I got them about 4-5 years ago. Now they are 5’ or more, very healthy looking no disease no trouble with insects. Yet they have not ever bloomed Nor have they ever given the look suggesting trying to bloom. Why?

The lilacs are probably still too immature to bloom. Those planted at 2-3 inches will take even longer to flower than the average mentioned in this response to a similar question.

Although Question 319945 is about Japanese tree lilacs, most of the information is also applicable to Peking lilacs.
