The history of scotch broom in the pacific northwest

Asked July 23, 2018, 7:49 PM EDT

Hello there! I am a student at Portland State University doing an undergraduate research project on scotch broom. I am curious to delve into the history of the plant in America and the Pacific Northwest. I am looking for in-depth accounts of first introduction(s), ancestral population(s), and other relevant history that delves deeper than what is readily available from oregonstate.edu, nps.gov, and wikipedia. Can you help to point me towards relevant literature or folks that I should contact? Maybe you are those folks? Thank you! Robyn Dove

I would reach out to the folks at Noxious Weed Program at the Oregon Department of Agriculture. They will know more about the history of introduction, past management efforts, etc.

Start with Tim Butler.
