Lowering soil ph

Asked July 14, 2018, 4:11 PM EDT

Hello, I have a perennial berm which includes hydrangeas, azaleas, and spirea. My soil test results (#F36LD5) indicated a ph of 8. I’d like to lower the soil ph to 6 to produce better living conditions for these plants. I’ve read that elemental sulfur is a way to lower soil ph. What are your recommended steps to lower the ph in this area?

Elemental sulfur is a good choice for your situation. For information about application rates and guidelines, please refer to this publication: https://web.extension.illinois.edu/cfiv/homeowners/080818.html

Your target pH is appropriate for these shrubs.
