Siberian Cypress

Asked July 13, 2018, 1:41 PM EDT

I planted 7 Siberian Carpet Cypress this past Spring under a Walnut Tree. These plants receives minimal sun. I water the plants a 2-3 times a week. Over the past couple of weeks, I noticed that some of the upper and a lot of lower grout was starting to turn yellow. Do you know what could be causing that? Thank you for your assistance. V/r, Pat

Pat,
Siberian carpet cypress is very challenging to grow in our area. They do not fare well in high heat and locations with heavy soils. They also are susceptible to root rot, especially in clay soils that do not drain well. We suspect a root rot issue might be what's causing the symptom in your plant and there is nothing curative for it.
These plants are not easy to grow in Maryland, unfortunately.
