Can’t identify this plant

Asked July 12, 2018, 1:59 PM EDT

I have plant that I am not sure that I planted but it quite rigorous. I wasn’t sure if this was a weed and should be pulled or if it’s a plant. You can see in the photo that it is at least 3 ft high and wide: Please help identify this!

We can identify the plant to genus. It is in the genus Oenothera. This is the primrose family. There are about 145 species in the genus, they are native to North America.
If you want the plant further identified, please bring samples to the plant clinic at the extension office at the Jefferson county fair grounds. We need a stem with leaves, flowers and fruits in order to key the plant to species. As noted it is native, if you don't want it where it is, you can pull it out or move it to another location.
