Tree trimming

We have some large maple and ash trees that need to be trimmed. (large branches removed) Can this be done now? Does removing branches from ash trees attract ash borers?

Do not trim ash trees now. That should be done in the winter when there are no insects around. Maples can be trimmed at any time. You mention large branches. That can be very destructive and stressful for a tree so I recommend that you have a certified arborist do any work that need to be done. You can contact one by visiting this web site and clicking on Find An Arborist. Put in your zip code to narrow the search: http://www.treesaregood.org/
