Hi there, I have several questions, all unrelated so you will see different emails from me today(LOL). This is a bug, new to me this year that is chewing my beautiful hopps vine. Can you identify it and tell me what to do to get rif of it. I have tried online natural things. Thank you.

Clackamas County Oregon hops lady beetles

Lucky you!

Those orange and black critters are young lady beetles. They are not making holes in the leaves, but they are eating the aphids on the hops.

Aphids are small soft-bodied creatures which suck plant sap from plants and then excrete the excess water and sugar. That excreted stuff is called honeydew. It's sticky and glossy. Wash off both the aphids and their honeydew with a harsh water spray. Repeat as needed.
