Stearns County Minnesota heucheras shade plants

Missouri Extension heuchera expert Patrick Greenwald says, "In the Ozark climate most heuchera should be planted in light shade; protected from harsh direct afternoon sun. Some of the lighter colored leaf hybrids require full shade; always pay attention to the care tag to determine the requirements of your specific cultivar."

Heucheras are very shade tolerant and apparently those with light colored leaves require full shade. Although plants in full shade may produce fewer flowers they will probably grow well there and for most varieties leaf color is of primary ornamental interest.
