Blueberry and Raspberry Plants

Asked July 3, 2018, 4:43 PM EDT

I would like to add these two plants to my gardens. There are two planting areas from which to chose; one faces south and is beside the house and enjoys a fairly sunny day and the other faces east with a northern exposure. The one facing east does have a perennial garden; cone flowers, yarrow, bee balm and asiatic lilies all bloom in this area. Which area would be the best for each plant and what are the best producers? This will be a small area in my gardens and the fruit is for the joy of picking my own! My home is located in Bloomington near the Hyland Park Reserve.

Both fruits prefer full sun so the south facing area would be the only area that would work. The blueberry also must have acidic soil so you will have to amend the area with peat moss and provide an acidic fertilizer.
