Birch tree disease

Asked July 1, 2018, 12:54 PM EDT

I live in Cove Pt in Klamath Falls and one of our three weeping birches ( over 30 years old) appears to be diseased. I suspect it is that boring beetle that has started to appear in the area. Can you suggest someone to come diagnose and recommend what to do before it spreads to my other trees? Thank youQ Anne Wenner

Hi Anne, it was a pleasure meeting you and your dogs yesterday. I guess you got through to us via the plant clinic faster than through this online service. I thought I would take the time to share a couple links with you, you mentioned wanting to alert your neighbors. I think this could be particularly effective in your situation since there are just a few of you clustered together. I could not find any info on how far BBB can fly.

I will try to address your gummosis question before I leave for the dentist today as well! Thanks again for using Extension!
